From our own farm at Odysea Coffee — Slow Food certified and nestled on the edge of a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, Finca Rio Colorado is the heartbeat of our origin story. This is the coffee that started it all.
The Story
Nestled at 1,800 meters above sea level on the outskirts of Celaque National Park — the most mountainous area in Honduras and a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve — Finca Rio Colorado is one of the most extraordinary growing environments in Central America. Named after the two rivers that run along either side of the farm, this 40-hectare oasis in Capucas, Copán sits at the edge of a cloud forest, where the altitude, moisture, and rich volcanic soil create ideal conditions for exceptional coffee.
This unique lot combines 70% Catuai, processed using the washed method, with 30% Parainema, processed naturally. The washed Catuai brings clarity, balance, and a clean sweetness, while the natural Parainema adds depth and fruit-forward complexity. Together, they deliver a vibrant and layered cup — notes of chocolate, honey, panela, and dried fruits, with a touch of tropical fruit sweetness that lingers in the finish.
Finca Rio Colorado is more than a farm — it's a family legacy four generations in the making. In 2014, Mabel Ortiz and Francisco Galeano — Odysea Coffee partners and the parents of our co-founder Francisco Galeano — purchased this land in collaboration with Umami Area, dedicating the last decade to elevating its quality through new varietals, processing methods, and sustainable practices. For Odysea, this farm is personal. It's where our roots are, where our story begins, and where we bring visitors from around the world to experience coffee at its source through our origin travel expeditions.
