The Story
Grown in the misty highlands of La Sampedrana, Comayagua, Honduras, this exceptional coffee comes from the farm of fifth-generation producer Nelson Raul Amador — a man whose roots in coffee run as deep as the rich soil beneath his feet. At an elevation of 1,750 meters, these Typica plants thrive in the cool mountain air and mineral-rich soils of the Comayagua region, one of Honduras's most celebrated growing areas.
Nelson Raul's meticulous approach to the honey process — carefully leaving the fruit's natural mucilage on the bean as it dries under the sun — unlocks a naturally sweet and layered cup. Notes of chocolate, honey, plum, and berries make this coffee a sensory experience, whether enjoyed as a pour-over that highlights its fruit-forward complexity or as an espresso that amplifies its rich, velvety sweetness.
The story of this coffee begins in the early 1900s, when two brothers set out to cultivate coffee in the highlands of Comayagua. Over a century later, their legacy lives on through more than 22 family members who still actively farm the same land. Odysea co-founder Francisco Galeano and Nelson Raul have built a close friendship over the years — visiting the farm together at least five times a year, working side by side to handpick the exceptional microlots that make their way into your cup. This coffee is a reflection of that trust, that friendship, and a shared commitment to quality that begins long before the roast.
