TRIP OVERVIEW

Trip Duration: 7 days & 6 nights

Experience all things coffee and culture as we embark on a remarkable journey to the heart of Central America: Honduras. Tour coffee farms of all sizes and types, and then dive into the processing methods that take a bright red cherry and give you the green seed ready for roasting. Experience the day to day life of those whose lives have been devoted to the cultivation and harvest of coffee. End your trip by exploring one the best preserved Mayan Ruins in the world: Copán Ruinas. Enjoy local foods and traditions as you take in the sights and get to know the people behind the cup!

Itinerary

Day 1

San Pedro Sula → Capucas, Copán

  • Meet at Ramón Villeda Morales International Airport (SAP), San Pedro Sula, Honduras. 

  •  Travel to Capucas, Copán, which is approximately a 5 hour journey from the airport in San Pedro Sula. 

  • Spend the night in Orígines Cabañas Hotel, which is surrounded by coffee farms, features a heated pool, and a nightly bonfire. 

  • Stick around for the after dinner presentation of Honduras & trip details.

  • Enjoy your evening by the bonfire and heated swimming pool. 

DAY 2

Visit a local coffee farm

  •  Breakfast at the hotel.

  • Tour Rio Colorado, a local coffee farm featuring high altitude coffee located 1400 - 1650 meters above sea level and several specialty coffee varieties. Meet the farm foreman, Panchito. 

  • Coffee picking activity, visit the pulping and drying stations. 

  • Lunch at the farm with traditional Honduran food.

  • Coffee tasting with traditional Honduran sweet bread.

  • Travel back to the hotel and relax or walk around the farm before dinner.

  • Dinner at the hotel.

  • Enjoy your evening by the bonfire and heated swimming pool

DAY 3

Visit a local coffee farm and coffee processing mill.

  • Breakfast at the hotel. 

  • Visit a local micro coffee farm.  

  • Visit a coffee tree nursery and learn about the cultivation of coffee trees.

  • Coffee cupping session with local specialty coffees. 

  • Learn about coffee grading and selection at the processing mill.

  • Lunch at the hotel. 

  • Visit the home of  Panchito, foreman at Rio Colorado. 

  • Travel two hours to Santa Rosa de Copán, a colonial town founded in 1705. 

  • Visit a local coffee roastery 

  • Dinner at an iconic Lenca restaurant.

DAY 4

Santa Rosa de Copán → Copán Ruinas

  • Breakfast at the hotel.

  • Travel to Copán Ruinas (approximately 2 hour drive).

  • Guided tour of the Copán Archaeological Site and the Museum of Mayan Sculpture. 

  • Lunch at Hacienda San Lucas. 

  • Enjoy the sunset at Hacienda San Lucas with a view of the Mayan ruins.

  • Travel to downtown Copán Ruinas. Walk around the town before dinner, visit tourist shops, etc. 

  • Return to Hacienda San Lucas for the night.

DAY 5

Visit a local coffee farm & Mayan hot spring (Luna Jaguar)

  • Breakfast at Hacienda San Lucas.

  • Tour Santa Isabel Farm. 

  • Enjoy a typical lunch on the farm made with local produce. 

  • Travel to Luna Jaguar Mayan hot spring. 

  • Dinner at Hacienda San Lucas.  

DAY 6

Tour of Copán Ruinas downtown and Macaw Mountain

  • Breakfast at Hacienda San Lucas.  

  • Visit San Rafael specialty coffee shop, walk around the town, and do souvenir some shopping. 

  • Travel to Macaw Mountain.  

  • Visit the Tea & Chocolate Place to learn about cacao. 

  • Dinner in a typical restaurant in Copán Ruinas. 

  • Spend the last night of the trip enjoying the local nightlife.

DAY 7

Copán Ruinas → San Pedro Sula Airport

  • Breakfast at Hacienda San Lucas.

  • Travel 3 hours to Ramón Villeda Morales International Airport (SAP). 

Trip price includes:

  • Transportation: a vehicle with a professional driver for the duration of the trip.

  • Translation: Translator traveling with the group at all times. 

  • Accommodations for 6 nights in double occupancy rooms. All of our lodging partners are independent, locally owned hotels.

  • Breakfast, lunch, and dinner (menu options will vary).

  • All activities specified in the itinerary.

  • Guided tours.

  • Honduran sales tax. 

Trip price does NOT include:

  • Flights from your city to SAP (Honduras)

    Any optional tours or activities not specified in the itinerary. 

  • Tips, gratuities.

  • Alcoholic beverages.

  • Snacks and food other than breakfast, lunch, and dinner specified above.

  • Travel insurance (required)

  • Airport departure tax. 
  • Any other incidentals.
