TRIP OVERVIEW

Trip Duration: 7 days & 6 nights

Experience all things coffee and culture as we embark on a remarkable journey to the heart of Central America: Honduras. Tour coffee farms of all sizes and types, and then dive into the processing methods that take a bright red cherry and give you the green seed ready for roasting. Experience the day to day life of those whose lives have been devoted to the cultivation and harvest of coffee. End your trip by exploring one the best preserved Mayan Ruins in the world: Copán Ruinas. Enjoy local foods and traditions as you take in the sights and get to know the people behind the cup!

Day 1

Arrival in Honduras | San Pedro Sula → Santa Rosa de Copán

Your journey begins with a warm welcome at Ramón Villeda Morales International Airport (SAP) in San Pedro Sula. From there, we travel approximately 2 hours through scenic landscapes to Santa Rosa de Copán, a charming colonial town founded in 1705 at the heart of Copán coffee region.

We start with a visit to a local coffee shop to experience some of our first sips of Honduran coffee culture. In the evening, enjoy dinner at an iconic Lenca restaurant, celebrating ancestral flavors and traditions.

After dinner, check in to the hotel.
Optional: Experience the nightlife in Santa Rosa’s historic old town.

DAY 2

From Colonial Town to the Mountain Coffee Farm

After breakfast at the hotel in Santa Rosa de Copán, we explore the historic old town and local market, where colonial architecture and daily life come together. A visit to another local coffee shop highlights how coffee is woven into everyday Honduran culture.

We then travel approximately 1.5 hours into the mountains to Orígenes Cabañas Hotel, a peaceful retreat surrounded by coffee trees. Lunch at the hotel features traditional Honduran food.

In the afternoon, you may choose to visit the home of Panchito, a coffee producer and foreman at Río Colorado Farm, offering a personal introduction to the people behind Odysea coffee.

As evening falls, relax by the bonfire or enjoy the heated swimming pool, surrounded by the calm of the coffee region.

DAY 3

 From Bean to Cup | A Hands-On Coffee Experience

Today you step fully into the world of coffee.

After breakfast, we visit Río Colorado, an Odysea Coffee farm producing high-altitude coffee grown between 1,400 and 1,650 meters above sea level, featuring several specialty coffee varieties. Guided by Panchito, the farm foreman, we will see first hand what daily life on the farm looks like.

You’ll take part in a coffee picking activity and tour the pulping and drying stations, learning how coffee is processed right after harvest along with the impact each method has on flavor. Lunch is enjoyed by the river on the farm.

In the afternoon, enjoy a coffee tasting paired with traditional Honduran sweet bread, semitas. Later, a guided coffee cupping session introduces local specialty coffees, and you’ll learn about coffee grading and selection at the processing mill.

Dinner is served at the hotel, and the evening invites you once again to relax by the bonfire or heated swimming pool.

DAY 4

Coffee Farms to Ancient Civilization | Copán Ruinas

After breakfast, we travel approximately 3 hours to Copán Ruinas, one of Central America’s most charming heritage towns.

Upon arrival, check in and enjoy lunch at Marina Copán Hotel. In the afternoon, visit Macaw Mountain Bird Park, a conservation and rehabilitation center protecting once-sacred scarlet macaws. 

As the sun sets, enjoy a memorable dinner at Hacienda San Lucas, overlooking the Mayan valley and ruins—one of the most iconic views of the journey.

Return to Marina Copán Hotel.
Optional: Explore Copán Ruinas’ relaxed nightlife.

DAY 5

The Legacy of the Maya | Tea & Chocolate

After breakfast at Marina Copán Hotel, enjoy a guided tour of the Copán Archaeological Site, home to some of the most impressive Mayan stelae and temples, along with the famous Hieroglyphic Stairway. The experience continues at the Mayan Sculpture Museum, bringing ancient stories to life.

Lunch is served at a traditional restaurant in Copán Ruinas. In the afternoon, visit a Tea & Chocolate experience, famous for its artisanal chocolate made using traditional methods and local cacao.

Dinner at Marina Copán Hotel offers time to relax and reflect on the day.

DAY 6

Local Life, Coffee & Sacred Waters

The day begins with breakfast at Marina Copán Hotel. We then explore downtown Copán Ruinas, strolling through town, and of course taking time for artisan and souvenir shopping.

Lunch is served at San Rafael Specialty Coffee. In the afternoon, we travel to Luna Jaguar Mayan Hot Springs, a sacred and serene place where nature and relaxation come together.

After soaking in the warm waters, we return to Copán Ruinas for dinner at a typical local restaurant.
Optional: Spend the final night enjoying local nightlife and celebrating the journey.

DAY 7

Departure | Carrying the Story Home

After breakfast at Marina Copán Hotel, we travel approximately 3 hours back to Ramón Villeda Morales International Airport (SAP) for departure.

You return home not only with great coffee, but with stories, friendships, and a deeper understanding of the world surrounding coffee.

Trip price includes:

  • Transportation: a vehicle with a professional driver for the duration of the trip.

  • Translation: Translator traveling with the group at all times. 

  • Accommodations for 6 nights in double occupancy rooms. All of our lodging partners are independent, locally owned hotels.

  • Breakfast, lunch, and dinner (menu options will vary).

  • All activities specified in the itinerary.

  • Guided tours.

  • Honduran sales tax. 

Trip price does NOT include:

  • Flights from your city to SAP (Honduras)

    Any optional tours or activities not specified in the itinerary. 

  • Tips, gratuities.

  • Alcoholic beverages.

  • Snacks and food other than breakfast, lunch, and dinner specified above.

  • Travel insurance (required)

  • Airport departure tax.
